Natalie J. Tellez, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Natalie J. Tellez, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She joined Hauser Clinic & Associates in Houston, TX in 2019 after 10 years in a private group practice. She graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin and obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she was elected to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurses. Dr. Tellez was chosen as the first nurse intern in the history of The Menninger Clinic and trained in the Professionals in Crisis, adolescent, OCD, and Eating Disorders Programs. She has worked in inpatient psychiatry settings and therapeutic psychedelics for mental health. She has subspecialty training in integrative psychiatry and interventional psychiatry.

Although she has an extensive background in inpatient and residential psychiatric care, Dr. Tellez has found her niche in helping everyday adults cope with mental health conditions on an outpatient basis. Her patients are the center of her practice. She strives to assist individuals in achieving their fullest potential with a comprehensive, integrative, and holistic approach. Her clients quickly appreciate that she is genuinely interested in getting to know them and forming a therapeutic partnership foundational to improving mental and emotional well-being.

Dr. Tellez provides diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and ADHD. She also has a special interest in working with the LGBTQA community, pregnant and postpartum women, and treatment-refractory mood disorders. Dr. Tellez utilizes pharmacogenomics testing to aid in medication management and provides referrals to other services as needed, such as specialized psychotherapies, TMS, ECT, neuropsychological testing, etc. She also offers clients options of traditional in-office and/or telepsychiatry visits.

Dr. Tellez continually seeks new and collaborative learning opportunities and keeps up with current research that supports the work she does with clients. She is a national speaker educating other healthcare providers on psychopharmacology and the public on mental health awareness issues. Her goal is to help decrease the negative stigma that so many in today’s society place on mental health conditions.

Dr. Tellez is Board Certified as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is a member of the Texas Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses Association and International Society of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses. She was selected to the Latin American Who’s Who and Top Nurse in Houston by the International Nurses Association.
