Bernard M. Gerber, M.D. joined the Hauser Clinic in 2000 after being in private practice in Houston for many years. Dr. Gerber is a graduate of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed an internal medicine internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in association with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then completed his residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry.
After completing his training, Dr. Gerber joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Since 1982, he has been in full-time private practice, currently focusing on outpatient treatment of psychiatric and mental health problems of adolescents and adults. He is also Medical Director of Ethos Wellness, a multi-site psychotherapy and psychiatric practice in Houston and Austin, providing consultation, teaching, and supervision of mental health clinicians.
Dr. Gerber has held a number of leadership positions in medical organizations, including being a past president of the Houston Psychiatric Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the Harris County Medical Society. He remains active in the Harris County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association, the largest county and state medical associations in the nation, committed to improving health care for all Texans.
Dr. Gerber is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
