Donald E. Hauser, M.D.

Donald E. Hauser, M.D., is the grandson of the founder of Hauser Clinic, Abe Hauser, M.D., and joined Hauser Clinic in 1987. Dr. Hauser is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1989, and in Geriatric Psychiatry since 1992.

Dr. Hauser graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and completed his residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center affiliated hospitals, which included Hermann Hospital, Harris County Psychiatric Center, and M.D. Anderson.

Dr. Hauser is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Association, American Neuropsychiatric Association, Houston Psychiatric Society, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Hauser is active as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Medical School in departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine. He has been selected to the Houston's Best Doctor list in 2002 - 2003 and 2003 - 2004.

Douglas J. Stockwell, M.D.

Douglas J. Stockwell, M.D., joined Hauser Clinic and Associates in 1997 merging his private practice with the clinic. Dr. Stockwell is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Stockwell completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University. Before entering medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dr. Stockwell completed his Master's and Doctoral post-graduate work at Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Stockwell completed his residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center affiliated hospitals, which included Hermann Hospital, Harris County Psychiatric Center, and M.D. Anderson and then served on the faculty of the Medical School. He continues to serve as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry.

Dr. Stockwell is recipient of the Merck Award of Academic Excellence from the University of Texas, and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Bernard M. Gerber, M.D.

Donald E. Hauser, M.D.

Bernard M. Gerber, M.D., joined Hauser Clinic in 2000 after being in private practice in Houston for many years. Dr. Gerber is a graduate of the Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in association with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then completed a residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry.

After completing his training, Dr. Gerber joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Since 1982, he has been in full-time private practice of psychiatry, currently focusing on outpatient treatment of a variety of psychiatric and mental health problems of adolescents and adults.

Dr. Gerber has held a number of leadership positions in medical organizations. He is a past president of the Houston Psychiatric Society and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. He continues to serve on boards and committees of these organizations and of the Harris County Medical Society and Texas Medical Association. He has maintained his teaching activities at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Dr. Gerber is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Arturo F. Rios, M.D.

Arturo F. Rios, M.D., joined Hauser Clinic in 2003 after spending 23 years in private practice in Houston. Dr. Rios graduated from the University of Houston. He completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then completed his residency in psychiatry at University of Texas Health Science Center, Hermann Hospital, Houston.

Dr. Rios provides diagnosis and treatment for substance abuse, mood and anxiety disorders, gay and lesbian issues for adults and geriatric patients.

Dr. Rios is a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Houston Psychiatric Society, Harris County Medical Society and Hispanic American Medical Association of Houston.

Dr. Rios is fluent in Spanish.

Sarah L. Aderholt, M.D.

Sarah L. Aderholt, M.D.

Sarah L. Aderholt joined the Hauser Clinic in 2006 after working at The Menninger Clinic from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Aderholt is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vanderbilt University with a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. She completed medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and trained in family practice at The Central Texas Medical Foundation in Austin, Texas. She then completed a residency in psychiatry at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY.

After completing her training, Dr. Aderholt joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and worked in The Menninger Clinic's Eating Disorders Program. She also worked on the Hope Unit at Menninger, focusing on inpatient treatment of adults with severe mental health problems.

Dr. Aderholt is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Aderholt has a particular interest in the interplay between mood and anxiety disorders and reproductive issues in the adult life cycle.

Karen D. Snyder, M.D., PhD

Karen D. Snyder, M.D., PhD Karen D. Snyder, M.D., joined Hauser Clinic in 2007 after completing residencies in general and child and adolescent psychiatry at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Snyder is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Snyder is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Denison University. Prior to entering medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Snyder completed her Master’s degree and PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University.

Dr. Snyder is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, The Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Snyder has a particular interest in adolescent issues and the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Harris M. Hauser, M.D.

Dr. Harris Hauser has practiced psychiatry in Houston since 1962. He is board certified in Clinical Neurophysiology by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology in 1960 and Neuroimaging by the American Society of Neuroimaging in 1993. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology 1962 and Psychiatry 1964 and with added qualifications in Neurophysiology in 1994.

Dr. Hauser graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his internship at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He began his psychiatry training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and completed his studies at Houston State Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Hauser is an active member of multiple societies including Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Fellow of the American College of Psychiatry, Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, and Fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.

Cheryl A. Verlander, LMSW-ACP

Cheryl Verlander, LCSW, joined Hauser Clinic and Associates in 1997. Ms. Verlander has been in the Houston area for over twenty years treating, children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Ms. Verlander completed her undergraduate studies at Newcomb College of Tulane University and received her Master of Social Work from Tulane University School of Social Work. She holds three licenses including, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Ms. Verlander is a Board Certified Diplomate, American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

Ms. Verlander is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Mental Health Association, and Houston Association of Clinic Hypnosis.
